We had a lot of unique search engines this week. We started off with RedZee.com… a visual search engine with an animated Red Zebra for a Mascot instead of a logo.

Good week of interesting alternative search engines. The highlight of this week would have to be Scour.com. Sites that combine different major search engines into one are a dime-a-dozen, however Scour has taken it to a new dimension.

Now, I realize it’s actually well… Monday at this point. However, we’ve had a busy week here at Add Our Search. First and foremost, we’ve launched Search Icon support for our widget service and launched the capability for the blog this weekend. You may have noticed now when you add one of the search plugins to your browser from the blog, an icon is added along with the name. We’re still working on perfecting the auto-discovery feature, so it may not work on ALL of the search plugins, but it’s a start.

It’s been a rather slow week of blog posts and reviews. I typically try to do at least 2 posts per day, but only averaged 1 per day this week. I’ve been busy working on some new functionality for the Addoursearch.com widgets, so that has taken priority. But, never fear, I will be posting back at full steam shortly. More »

The highlights of this week are definately the visual search engines. This approach seems to be a growing trend in the search genre and is probably due to two major factors; Increasing adoption of broadband connection speeds and the readily available - and infinitely expandable - computing power available to startups. I think as more and more cloud computing services such as Amazon’s EC2 service and Google’s App Engine come on line, we’ll begin to see trend increase in the future. More »

This was an interesting week with a lot of really unique approaches to the search category. From site oriented towards the visually impaired to a beautifully caotic visual search, we’ve really found a lot of unique sites.
