QuarkBase : Everything about a Website
QuarkBase is a one stop shop to find out all sorts of information about a web site. It’s really a useful little site that allows you to find contact info, page views, social bookmark links… really anything you would like about a web site.
I can’t tell you how useful a find like this is - especially for a blog writer like me - to find all the pertinent information about a site in one location. So, if you’re a web worker - or just the curious type - this is a good one to have in your search bar toolbox.
One Stop Shop
Like I said above, QuarkBase can be an extremely valuable resource for blog writers trying to do research about a story or a writeup. However, it can also be extremely useful from a site owner perspective as well.
Case in point is with Addoursearch.com. I typically head out to Digg, StumbleUpon, Twitter, and many other sources to find if there’s any new buzz about the site. Granted, there’s not as much as I’d like… but, it still saves time.
QuarkBase can also be a very useful site for marketers too. From this perspecitve, if you’re researching a site for a possible ad campaign, it can provide some rather valuable information about the social buzz and even contact information as well.
The Layout
The main results page of the site will provide all the information in one location. You simply have to scroll down to see all the information located on the same page. They also provide specific pages for all the specific sections of the site including:
- Intro
- Popular (should read popularity)
- Traffic
- People
- Spotlight
- Company
- Technical
Some of the information can be a little creepy actually… but this also says something about how well the application was thought out and put together.
The site gives credit for some of it’s sources including; Zoom Info, CrunchBase, Bloglines, DMOZ, and Dealipedia.
As a side note, I’d have to say that it’s interesting what can be done with a little imagination, programming skills… and a publicly available API.
