Ok, so it’s been a few days since I’ve posted, but keeping in the spirit of the Labor Day Holiday here in the states, I decided to take the day off.  It’s now 12:09am on Tuesday, so technically it’s no longer Monday.

But, I’m still a little sunburned and a little exhausted from chasing the kids around the park all day, so I’m going to keep this one short and sweet with a review and browser search plugin for a t-shirt search engine…. yes, you heard me right a t-shirt search Engine!

Let me introduce you to PleaseDress.me… a small t-shirt search engine and side project from Gary Vaynerchuck of Wine Library TV.  PleaseDress.me (cudos on the name by the way) is a very simple search engine with a singular purpose… finding t-shirts. More »

TinySong.com is the search extension of the music sharing service Grooveshark.com.  The service allows you to search for a song or artist, then provides you with a link so you can listen to the song yourself or pass it along to your friends.

The interesting part about this TinySong and Grooveshark is that you can listed to the song in it’s entirety online.  Many similar sites will offer this same service - but for a fee.  Services like Rhapsody which charges a monthly fee or iTunes that requires you to pay on a per-song basis. More »

edopter.com is a crowdsourcing project in social trends. Which is another way of saying that the site uses a large group of people to find and predict what will popular next. While the site is mainly oriented towards the early adopter crowd (hence the name “e-dopter”), anyone who’s interested in new and emerging technologies and trends will find this site very useful.

On top of early adopters and people who enjoy being part of the “in-crowd”, this site has a huge potential for marketers, businesses, and bloggers alike.  With it, you’d be able to identify which trends might be coming to a store or browser near you and get a leg up on the competition. More »

Picitup.com is a very fast and functional image search tool for filtering pictures based on content.  Picitup’s search engine indexes a few major image repositories, then provides you with tools to filter your results based on category, color, shape and layout.

Most major image search engines will provide you with a few ways to filter your results, but these are normally left to image size and maybe orientation.  Picitup combines the indexing power of major image search engines and image repositories, then takes that service one step further by allowing you to fine tune your results. Facesaerch.com (yes, it’s actually spelled that way) is a fun image search engine for faces.  This application really doesn’t have any useful purpose, except for a fun little time waster. But… it’s a Saturday morning, so I thought I would include something a little less serious and more fun.

Facesaerch is a very simple search that queries the Google Image Search api to gather images of faces based on your entry.  So, let’s say you’re a stalker big fan of Angelina Jolie (see screenhot) you can quickly scroll through a portrait gallery of her pictures.

Flickr.com is by far one of the most popular and widely used photo sharing sites on the web today.  The site allows users to store, edit, share, print, and even market your photos online.  With well over 2 billion photos online, your photo search is bound to turn up something good.

Originally launched in February 2004 and later acquired by Yahoo! in March of 2005, Flickr is known as one of the first “Web 2.0″ applications.  The site is a pioneer in the field of user contributed content and community that is now a standard with most web applications. More »

When a friend asks you about the move you saw last night, do you go into a long dissertation on the development of the characters, the plot lines, or the imagery?  Unless you’re a film major… probably not.  Typically you have a quick answer like, “It was awesome!” or “It sucked, it was way to long and boring”.  So, why spend time reading through lengthy reviews from some stuffy, elitist critic?  Try Blippr.com instead.

Blippr is a social review site that allows it’s users to rate movies, music, books, and games in 160 characters or less. Given the recent popularity of short messaging services - or “lifecasting” applications like Twitter and Plurk - Blippr has taken that concept and molded it into a nice little review site.

So, you’re standing at home plate on a baseball field and you’re ready to sing the National Anthem. You open your mouth and out comes; “O! say can you see…. hmm hmmm hmm… early light”.  Don’t let this happen to YOU! Install LyricsFly.com lyric search to your browser and learn those lyrics!

Granted, you’re probably not going to have a computer handy in the middle of a baseball field, but you get the point. LyricsFly.com is a cool little application that allows you to find lyrics of a song by artist, song title, album, or Lyrics.

If you’re big into video games or just like them, you might want to check out GiantBomb.com. GiantBomb is an online encyclopedia of everything in or around video games. This is a massive site that includes game reviews, news, characters, and items… pretty much anything you can think of that involves video games.

Now, I’m not a HUGE gaming geek connoisseur like some people I know, but I do enjoy the occasional game here and there. However, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through this site.  There’s a lot of tools and options that I have never thought of, but really make sense in this context.  Case in point is the “locations” link under Browse in the main menu.  This is a cool little feature that allows you to browse through games based on location.  Meaning, you can find games that are set in space or in Japan.
