WeGame.com - Youtube for Video Games
Wegame.com is an interesting and fun site that allows you to watch, record, and upload videos of your game play. Wegame is similar to other video sites in which users can upload videos for other visitors to watch, rate, and comment on.
Besides user submitted videos of game play, the site also allows game producers to upload their latest trailers of new and upcoming games. Now, as I’ve said before in previous posts… I’m not a hard core gamer. However, this site can be rather addictive and a fun way to pass the time.
Create your own
If you’re into gaming and would like to show off your skills, Wegame provides a small application that you can download and install on your pc to record your games. At the time of writing, it appears that only PC and Windows games are supported. It would however be nice to see them support other platforms such as the Nintendo Wii or the Sony Playstation 3. These gaming platforms allow for downloads and installations on their system, so this would open up a whole new market for other gamers. I’m sure this will be an addition in the future, so we’ll have to keep our eyes out. (See a full list of the games they support here.)
Video Quality
Now, you might be wondering… why would this be interesting? Sure, if the site ONLY had videos of other people playing games, I have to admit it would be pretty boring . However, many of the users put a lot of effort into making these videos. Many are edited and have sound tracks associated with them, but some of them actually have scripts. Case in point is the video I’ve embedded below. This is actually a script and voice over from the new Batman movie The Dark Knight translated into a video game. So, there’s a lot of content to watch that isn’t just first person shooter games.
Standard Options
As with most video sites like Youtube and Vimeo, WeGame has a lot of standard features to explore, comment, and share videos. The site allows visitors and registered users to rate and comment on videos, plus embed videos on external sites. Case in point is the video of The Dark Knight parody I mentioned in the previous paragraph. This is the famous scene in which the joker does the “magic disappearing pen trick” (without the blood and gore.)
Conclusion
So, in closing, if you’re into gaming or just looking for some fun (or funny) videos to waste some time, I recommend adding this one to your browser.
