BooRah.com - Find Restaurants and Reviews From Your Browser.
There are literally thousands of restaurant review sites out there, many of which have the same “standard” features; reviews, menus, locations, recommendations, etc. What sets BooRah.com apart from rest is that it searches through blogs, critic review sites, and consumer sites with a patent-pending natural language processing technology to find and summarize the most relevant reviews. In other words, it reads the vibe on the web about a restaurant and shows you the best summary available.
Now BooRah.com currently has official reviews for a few major cities in the United States. But, after doing a quick search for “Tacos” in my area (Duluth, Mn) it still returned some decent results; A few chain restaurants and local joints as well. Basically the same results you’d find in the phone book.
So to really put their semantic (natural language) search engine to the test, I tried to do a search for an atmosphere or a feeling rather than a restaurant name or a food type. First, I switched the search area to Minneapolis, Mn and did a search for a “hip” restaurant. Interestingly enough, the first result for a “hip” restaurant in the Minneapolis area is exactly what I was thinking of… a little place called Chino Latino’s. ChinoLatino is a fusion restaurant that mixes Chinese and Latin cuisines. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities area and definitely would personify the word “hip” in a restaurant. See the Chino Latino review here.
They’ve been adding a lot of new cities recently, but even if you’re not in one of their included metro areas, I strongly recommend this site be added to your browser.
